I ditched the WD M圜loud a while back, and connected a USB powered hub to the back of my AirPort Extreme. If you can't return it, we (the users here can attempt to help you get it going). In my opinion, it would be best to return the WD My Cloud, (tell the store that it isn't working properly) get an AirPort Extreme, connect a WD USB drive to the back of it, and use it for your Time Machine backups. If you do get Finder to see it, the backups end up being corrupt (most of the time) and Time Machine will post a message telling you of such, and wanting to start a new back up. It has been my experience, as well as many others here, on there WD site and elsewhere, that the WD My Cloud does not work well at all for Mac Time Machine use, even though it comes set up for it. If you are using the Cloud as a network drive, make sure that your WD software is updated. Make sure to read over my post you originally quoted. If the latter, you need to format the WD My Cloud as Extended Journal. Click to expand. Are you using the WD Cloud as a network drive for backup purposes, or are you using it as a USB backup device? If the former, you do not need to format it.
